Top-load washer: tub cleaned out

The customer noticed small black specks and dirt left on clothes after a wash cycle. The machine was running fine otherwise, but the laundry kept coming out marked.

We took the washer apart and pulled the metal tub. Buildup had collected on the tub and around the base, and that debris was washing back onto the clothes. We cleaned the tub and the surrounding parts completely, then reassembled the machine and ran it to check the results. Laundry came out clean, and the problem is solved.

A tip for top-load owners: run a tub cleaner such as Affresh about once a month. Without it, buildup collects over the years and the machine has to be taken apart to get it out.
