GE gas dryer: years of lint cleaned out

The dryer is an older GE gas model in Downtown Brooklyn that had not been opened up for cleaning in a very long time. Lint had packed itself around the blower housing, the motor and the burner area inside the cabinet.

We took the cabinet apart and cleaned everything out: the blower wheel and housing, the motor, the base of the cabinet and the internal duct. Then we put it back together and ran the dryer to confirm normal airflow and normal heating. The vent line running out to the street was not part of this job.

Lint inside a dryer cabinet is a fire risk, and a fire there leaves a burnt smell in clothes and in the room that is very hard to get rid of. We suggest a full internal cleaning at least every three to four years, sooner if the dryer runs every day.
