Gas Oven Igniter Replacement in Brooklyn and NYC

Gas oven slow to heat, or not lighting at all? A worn igniter is one of the most common causes. We test it first and replace it on all major brands.

  • Diagnosis $90 plus tax ($120 plus tax in Manhattan)
  • 6-month warranty
  • OEM parts
  • EPA 608 certified
  • Fully insured

Signs of a worn oven igniter

  • The oven takes much longer than usual to preheat
  • The igniter glows, but the burner doesn't light
  • The oven doesn't heat at all, while the stovetop burners work

We test before we replace

A weak igniter glows but doesn't open the gas valve, so the oven heats slowly or not at all. The gas valve or the control can cause the same symptom, so we measure the igniter during the diagnosis and replace it only when it is the cause.

Igniter replacement cost

If the diagnosis confirms the igniter, replacing it costs $270 to $370 plus tax for labor ($290 to $450 plus tax in Manhattan) and $85 plus tax for the part. Labor depends on the model and on how hard the igniter is to reach. You get the exact estimate after the diagnosis.

Igniter replacement on all brands

Bake and broil igniters for gas ranges and ovens: Wolf, Viking, Thermador, BlueStar, Bertazzoni, Dacor, Miele, Bosch, GE, Cafe, Monogram, Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, JennAir, Frigidaire, Electrolux and most other brands, with OEM parts.

Gas safety

If you smell gas, leave the apartment and call your gas utility or 911. We repair the appliance itself. Gas line work must be done by a licensed plumber.

Price and warranty

The diagnostic visit is $90 plus tax ($120 plus tax in Manhattan) per appliance, and it goes toward the repair if you decide to go ahead. After the diagnosis you get an exact estimate for parts, labor and tax to approve before any work starts. Repairs carry a 6-month parts and labor warranty (1 year on sealed-system repairs).

Common questions

The igniter glows. Can it still be bad?

Yes. A weak igniter glows but doesn't open the gas valve, so the oven takes a long time to heat or doesn't heat at all. We measure it during the diagnosis to be sure.

How much does it cost to replace an oven igniter?

If the diagnosis confirms the igniter, replacing it costs $270 to $370 plus tax for labor ($290 to $450 plus tax in Manhattan) and $85 plus tax for the part.

“Vlad did an excellent job with repairing my refrigerator condenser fan motor and oven igniter replacement. A piece had to be ordered for next day delivery. Vlad explained the cost of repairing items and how they worked. He is very friendly, knowledgeable and respectable. He always put covering over his shoes before entering your home. He listened to my concerns and was very patient and attentive. I really appreciated the senior citizens discount 🙏. I will definitely be referring him and his services to family and friends.
